The Men's Sh*t Kit
Product Design
Developed out of a desire to try and do something about the global issue of poor men's mental health and their shocking suicide rates, the Men's Sh*t Kit is the culmination of many months of research and development.
With professional mental health practises not always suited for uniquely male issues, informal services collectively known as Men's Groups have been on the rise.
These groups offer a safe and supportive space for men to gather, vent their day-to-day frustrations, express their typically concealed emotions and work toward improving who they are as an individual.
This kit has been designed with Men's Groups in mind. It contains 30x cleverly designed 'tools' alongside a Facilitator's Guidebook packed full of short, fun games and activities using the included 'tools' to add some healing fun to the great work that the facilitators already do for the men.
Developed using research, prototyping and user testing, the 'tools' are able to be connected and built with in many different ways, allowing men creative expression as the engage with them.
The branding can be confronting, but given it's target audience, it's a tongue-in-cheek reference to what men in groups aim to do, ie. talk about their shit. Material and visual choices aim to allude to workshops and hardy materials that men have typically been known to work with.
